It offers three sandy beaches and a terraced area with access to the sea. Sheltered by nature, it was appreciated by sailors (Agay means 'favorable' in Greek).
With the arrival of the railway in 1860, many artists stopped in Agay: the painter Louis Valtat, the composer Vincent d'Indy, the writers Guy de Maupassant, Maurice Donnay, and Saint-Exupéry (do not miss the Fountain for the Little Prince, erected in his honor). Albert Cohen located part of the action of Belle du Seigneur in Agay.
Protected between Cap Dramont and Pointe de la Baumette, Agay's cove is a natural gateway to the Esterel. Its configuration makes it a popular place for sailors (Agay means 'favorable' in Greek). You will appreciate its three sandy beaches, the summit of Rastel and its red rocks, offering a breathtaking panorama over the cove.

HEART OF THE CITY AND OLD TOWN
In the former 'village district' where the Raphaëlois peasants lived, the narrow shaded alleys that make up the old town can still be found today.
Every day, this area hosts a flower and vegetable market offering typical Provencal products.
A little further on stands the Romanesque church, a historical monument dating back to the 12th century but enlarged in the 18th century! Its presbytery now houses the Archaeological Museum of Saint-Raphaël. The 22-meter watchtower, dating from around the 14th century, offers a splendid panoramic view.
The 'Marine District', once frequented by the city's fishermen, has gradually turned into a seaside resort. A casino and numerous villas have been built to create an attractive city center.
Points of interest include:
- Basilica Notre-Dame de la Victoire: a building constructed between 1882 and 1889, representing the Romanesque-Byzantine style popular during the Belle Epoque period.
- Museum of Prehistory and Underwater Archaeology: it houses collections from local heritage, prehistory, and Roman antiquity discovered in underwater excavations.
- Louis de Funès Museum: showcasing over 350 documents including personal photographs, film shootings, drawings, letters from Jean Anouilh, as well as film excerpts, some of which are unknown. Virtual Museum tour available.
- Promenade des Bains: created between 1880 and 1882 under the name 'Terrasse des Bains', considered the beginning of the tourist era in Saint-Raphaël.
- Jardin Bonaparte: on a dominant position overlooking the bay and the old port, with a 20,000m² garden including a public square with children's play areas.
